Why is wind resistance so important?
Wind resistance is a huge factor when deciding on a sunshade for areas such as elevated sites like rooftop terraces, hills or mountains, in foehn valleys, lakeshores coastal regions. One of the greatest aspects about Glatz parasols is that they are tested in a wind tunnel to ensure that each model sent out to our clients can withstand the different winds in sensitive locations. During the test, every GLATZ parasol model is subject to an increasingly greater wind force on a firmly anchored support pole. The results are analyzed and the structures are reinforced if necessary to ensure durability.
Specifications for wind resistance is always provided for every sunshade, in kilometres per hour (km/h) and Beaufort (Bft).
Central pole parasols offer greater wind stability and are especially recommended for highly exposed areas. In particularly windy locations, whether by the sea or in the mountains, we always recommend installing a fixed anchor regardless of the wind resistance to ensure maximum safety.
